RULING WRITER • RULING PEN

When I first bought the Ruling Writer, I thought I’d gone to heaven! This has become my number one favorite tool to letter with. I have used it for years and love the marks you can make on different types of paper with this incredible tool.
This is a 2 day workshop that entertains people with the wonderfully different marks you can make with both the Ruling Pen and the Ruling Writer. Thicks and thins become fun to create with this pen on different textures of papers and add different color watercolor and it becomes incredible art!

ITALIC LETTERING

The Italic lettering is one of my favorite and most versatile of all calligraphic styles. The name ‘Italic’ is derived from the script’s country of origin. It developed in Italy during the early Renaissance period of the 15th century. Italic lettering is enjoyed by modern scribes with it’s flowing script and is very adaptable for flourishing.
I offer Italic lettering in different styles; traditional, non-traditional, compressed and Gothicized.

This is a 1 or 2 day workshop on some of the most important information a calligrapher of any level should have. Years ago, I took a Tools and Technique workshop from Marsha Brady which turned out to be one of the most valuable learning experiences I could ever remember in all my years.
This workshop is filled with ideas from the most simple to the most detailed. The information is designed to take the frustration out of tasks that present a challenge for you. From taking care of your nibs to how to correct a mistake in an antique bible you’ve just done. This workshop is filled with ideas I’ve picked up through the years and will gladly share with all of you to make your lettering experience a pleasurable one.
